For My Friends On Friday!!!!

If a Dog Were Your Teacher

If a dog were your teacher
These are some of the lessons you might learn...

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face
to be pure ecstasy

When it's in your best interest, practice obedience
Let others know when they've invaded your territory
Take naps and stretch before rising
Run, romp and play daily

Thrive on attention and let people touch you
Avoid biting, when a simple growl will do
On warm days stop to lie on your back on the grass
On hot days drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body

No matter how often you're scolded
don't buy into the guilt thing and pout
Run right back and make friends

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk
Eat with gusto and enthusiasm
Stop when you have had enough
Be loyal
Never pretend to be something you're not

If what you want lies buried
dig until you find it
When someone is having a bad day
be silent .....
...sit close by.

...and nuzzle them gently.

6 Random Things About Me!!

I was tagged by Michelle so here goes............

1) I have always wanted to be a beautician. When I was growing up and in my early 20's that is what I thought I wanted to become. I never did persure that as a career bacuase I got a job right out of college that I really like and have stuck with it this far, but maybe one day I can go back to school and try it out.

2) I LOVE horses, my entire childhood I grew up riding and being around horses. My family has always had them and I enjoy being around them, I would ride 3 or 4 times a week and it was so much fun. When I got married and moved out I had to give them up for the most part. My dad still has probably 10 or so at his house but they are just not in my backyard anymore and I don't get the chance as often to ride but I enjoy taking the kids to my dad's house and letting them enjoy the same things I did as a child. Maybe 1 day I can own them again.

3) I met Woody in December 1995. We were at a birthday party for Woody's brother. I had been friends with his brother for many years because his brother was involved with horses and I had been riding with him many times and my dad was good friends with him. I knew Woody's brothers last name was Allen and when I was introduced to Woody all I could think of was that Woody's name was Woody Allen (heehee). But I later asked questions and found out that they were half brother!!!!

4) Every year we tell the boys that next year we will plan our family vacation to Disney World and something always changes our plans. We are going to try very hard to not disappoint them next year and actually make the trip.

5) I still live basically in the same area that I did in high school and I don't keep up with anyone that I graduated with. In a class of over 200 students that is amazing. Except for Michelle, I think this is a pretty funny story. In high school Michelle and I ran in 2 different circles of friends. We did not even really know each other and never hang out together. Then we started attending the same church and realized that we should have hang out in high school because we copuld have been friends for over 20 years. I would take nothing for our friendship now, it is something that I cherish.

6) I am the middle child. I have and older and younger sister.
Not very interesting but just thought I would let you know.

One week down!!!

We have made it through the first week of school!!! Andy and Lucas did really well. Andy had 3 tests on Friday and he received his greades yesterday and he did really well considering I was not at home on Thursday night to help him studying because I was off spending the evening with Kenny Chesney (that will wait for another post). He made a B on spelling and vocabulary and an A on his Bible, that was a pretty good considering we all had to get back into the swing of things. I will have to admit that Michelle is right, trying to study with an older child while entertaining a younger sibling is quite a challenge, I did not understand what a big help it was last year when Woody was home to entertain Lucas while I helped Andy with his homework, I have been trying to find "homework" for Lucas to do at his desk while I work with Andy, it was worked pretty good so far.
Lucas had a good week also, even though he is only in 4K they are starting to work heavily in the mornings on basic info. and his teacher sent me a little note home saying that he was doing really well and that he was just too sweet(I already knew that).

I would have to say that they started off really well and they (we) just need to keep it up!!!!

Are you like your Mom?

This just confirmed what I already knew, I am just like my mom. Give this a try it was pretty accurate!!!!!

You Are Totally Like Your Mom

You and your mom are practically clones.

You think alike, and you even seem to read each other's minds.

You're definitely you're mother's child... and that's just fine with you.

For My Friends On Friday!!!!!

My Resignation

I am hereby officially tendering my resignation as an adult. I have decided I would like to accept the responsibilities of an 8 year-old.

I want to go to McDonald's and think that it's a four star restaurant.

I want to sail sticks across a fresh mud puddle and make a sidewalk with rocks.

I want to think M&Ms are better than money because you can eat them.

I want to lie under a big oak tree and run a lemonade stand with my friends on a hot summer's day.

I want to return to a time when life was simple: when all you knew were colors, multiplication tables, and nursery rhymes, but that didn't bother you, because you didn't know what you didn't know and you didn't care.

All you knew was to be happy because you were blissfully unaware of all the things that should make you worried or upset.

I want to think the world is fair. That everyone is honest and good.

I want to believe that anything is possible. I want to be oblivious to the complexities of life and be overly excited by the little things again.

I want to live simple again. I don't want my day to consist of computer crashes, mountains of paperwork, depressing news, how to survive more days in the month than there is money in the bank, doctor bills, gossip, illness, and loss of loved ones.

I want to believe in the power of smiles, hugs, a kind word, truth, justice, peace, dreams, the imagination, mankind, and making angels in the snow.

So... here's my checkbook and my car-keys, my credit card bills and my 401K statements. I am officially resigning from adulthood.

And if you want to discuss this further, you'll have to catch me first, cause........

......"Tag! You're it."

1ST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!

Today was the 1st day of school for Andy and Lucas. I decided to go into work late and go with Woody to take them today. We dropped Andy off 1st because he is in a different building than Lucas but at the same school. I thought Andy was going to be against us going in with him until we got there and he saw that other partents were going in with their kids. We walked in his class and I got him settled in with his desk, cubby and put everything in its place. I was then informed by Andy that it was time for me to leave. He barely said goodbye to me so I knew I shouldn't even try for a hug or kiss, he would have probably rather I just go away quietly.... so against my motherly wanting a hug, I left!!!!

Then it was time for us to take Lucas to the little kids building as Andy refers to it. Lucas starts 4K this year because he has a late birthday and did not make the cut off for kindergarten this year. He will have a 1/2 day of work and then the afternoon is lunch, nap and outside play. We walked Lucas upstairs and he went straight in and sat down and did not pay Woody or myself any attention. I am not sure which is worse, not caring that I left or crying after me and not wanting me to leave. I tried to get a hug and a kiss goodbye from him but he must be taking pointers from his big brother and even my 4 year old didn't want a hug or kiss from mom!!!!!! I guess I should be happy that they both are so comfortable with their school but I think Mom needed the hugs more than they did.

Even Woody was proud of me this year, NO TEARS, as I was leaving....maybe even Mom is growing up and didn't even realize it.

For My Friends on Friday!!!!

We can never underestimate the influence we have on others. We can touch people for good the rest of their lives.

Every influence of our life is important. We can never discount the influencewe have on other people, regardless of how ever small. Our influence can make an impact on this world. We have the opportunity to take a stand. What do I stand for? What is our influence doing to others?

Our influence lasts long after we have left this earth. The only thing we can leave behind is our influence we made on others. Think of the people that have touched our lives and shaped us as to who we are today. Pray that God will be able to touch another life as we have been touched by that special person.

Are we a stumbling block or a stepping stone for others? Our influence simply outlives us whether we like it or not. It is amazing what God can do through us and for others through our influence.

FOR MY FRIENDS ON FRIDAY!!!!!

A Child's Ten Commandments to Parents

1. My hands are small. Please don't expect perfection whenever I make a bed, draw a picture or throw a ball. My legs are short. Please slow down so that I can keep up with you.

2. My eyes have not seen the world as yours have. Please let me explore safely. Don't restrict me unnecessarily.

3. Housework will always be there. I'm only little for such a short time. Please take time to explain things to me about this wonderful world, and do so willingly.

4. My feelings are tender. Please be sensitive to my needs. Don't nag me all day long. (You wouldn't want to be nagged for your inquisitiveness.) Treat me as you would like to be treated.

5. I am a special gift from God. Please treasure me, holding me accountable for my actions, giving me guidelines to live by and disciplining me in a loving manner.

6. I need your encouragement and your praise to grow. Please go easy on the criticism. Remember, you can criticize the things I do without criticizing me.

7. Please give me the freedom to make decisions concerning myself. Permit me to fail so that I can learn from my mistakes. Then someday, I'll be prepared to make the kind of decisions life requires of me.

8. Please don't do things over for me. Somehow that makes me feel that my efforts didn't quite measure up to your expectations. I know it's hard, but please don't try to compare me with my brother or my sister.

9. Please don't be afraid to leave for a weekend together. Kids need vacations from parents, just as parents need vacations from kids. Besides, it's a great way to show us kids that your marriage is very special.

10. Please take me to worship regularly, setting a good example for me to follow.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!!!!

HUGS,
T

4 Days and counting!!!!!!

Wii finally found it!!!!

Andy has a birthday on August 15th and he has been asking for a Wii. I knew around Christmas time they were very hard to come by but I never imagined that in the middle of August they would be just as hard to find. I had waited until the last minute to start shopping for it and then I began to panic.... I started on Monday calling around and searching the internet for the best price, little to my surpise the price was not my biggest problem, I could not find one anywhere!!!!! Every store kept telling me they were sold out and not wxpecting a shipment b4 Andy's birthday but they told me to look around on the internet, of course I found them there but I could not believe the price $350.00 was the cheapest that I found. I asked around at work yesterday and someone told me to try a place called Gamestop. I called the one closest to me and they were also sold out but the saleman did tell me that he thought the store in Asheboro had 1 left. I immediatly called them and they did have 1 in stock, I begged the guy at the store to hold it for me and he greatfully said he would for 4 hours!!! What is a mother to do but take my 1 1/2 hour lunch, 10 gallons of gas and drive 45 mins to make a 10 year old birthday boy happy!!!!!

Vacation Count down!!!!

5 DAYS AND COUNTING!!!

We will be leaving on Saturday for our family vacation---Myrtle Beach bound!!!!!

Family Reunion

On Saturday we had a family reunion. It was for my great grandmother, the Lambeth family. She was my granddaddy's mom, so about 2 months ago my granddaddy asked us to try and mark our calenders for this day. My grandaddy does not ask alot from his family so I knew it was very important to him. In December my granddaddy will be 90 and still takes care of his farm daily. He has cows, a large garden, hay and a large yard and house to tend to and he would not change this for nothing, and he had to learn to do all the cooking when in 2005 my grandmother passed away after 62 years of marriage.
So I have become more aware that our time with granddaddy could be short and I am very fortunate to only live about 15 mins. from his house so I try to visit often and I knew that this reunion meant alot to him. Woody, myself and the boys were all able to attend along with both of my sisters and their spouses and children. Altogether with my mom and her brothers we had 23 people representing our family.
Their was approximatly 125 people at the reunion and it was very ironic that they asked the ages of the people in attendance for the oldest and the youngest and my grandaddy was the oldest and my sister's baby that is 6 months old was the youngest. We thought that was pretty cool..... My granddaddy acted like he was thrilled and was very proud to have all of his family there....

Sometimes we seem to be so busy with kids, work and other activities that we seem to take for granted that people know that we care and love them....Please take time today and call or personally tell someone how much they mean to you and how much you love them because you will never know when it is their time to be called "home". We are not promised tomorrow so find time today to brighten someones day and tell them how important they are to you, it will surely bring a smile to their face..

As it did for my granddaddy, you may even see a tear from a very strong and loving man!!!!!!

P.S To all my blogging buddies, let me take this opportunity to tell you all that your friendship and support mean the world to me. I feel truly blessed to be surrounded by such a fine and loving group of ladies.

Hugs,
T

For My Friends On Friday!!!!!

God, Forgive Me When I Whine

Today, upon a bus,
I saw a girl with golden hair.
I envied her, she seemed so gay,
And I wished I was as fair.
When suddenly she rose to leave,
I saw her hobble down the aisle.
She had one leg and used a crutch.
But as she passed, she gave a smile.

Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.
I have 2 legs, the world is mine.

I stopped to buy some candy.
The lad who sold it had such charm.
I talked with him, he seemed so glad.
If I were late, it'd do no harm.
And as I left, he said to me,
"I thank you, you've been so kind.
It's nice to talk with folks like you.
You see," he said, "I'm blind."

Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.
I have 2 eyes, the world is mine.

Later while walking down the street,
I saw a child with eyes of blue.
He stood and watched the others play.
He seemed not to know what to do.
I stopped a moment and then I said,
"Why don't you join the others dear?"
He looked ahead without a word.
And then I knew he couldn't hear.

Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.
I have 2 ears, the world is mine.
With feet to take me where I'd go.
With eyes to see the sunset's glow.
With ears to hear what I'd know.
Oh, God, forgive me when I whine
I've been blessed indeed, the world is mine.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!!!

HUGS,
T
